After only 35 minutes flight from Reykjavík you are already in the stunning Westfjords of Iceland. Your adventure is just around the corner. Your guide will be waiting for you on a snowmobile ready to take you on a tour along jaw-dropping coastal fjords and over immense central mountains. Don´t worry, the guide will have all the outer gears you need as well as a delicious lunch and hot chocolate to keep the body warm. You will drive with the guide on the snowmobile to the most dramatic waterfall in the Westfjords, Dynjandi. It´s 100 meters high, looking like a bridal veil – on the top it is 30 meters wide and widens up to 60 meters at the bottom. In the winter time the road that leads to the waterfall is usually closed due to massive snow in the area, therefore it is very likely to be all alone by the waterfall.
After the snowmobile tour a 4*4 truck will be waiting for you to take you to a relaxing and comfortable geothermal spring. The tradition of bathing in a hot geothermal springs is a local natural wonder. To make the most of the day we will end it with a delicious 2 course dinner at a lovely restaurant. If there is a change of seeing the Northern Lights we will hunt them down before checking in to a nice hotel in Patreksfjörður village.
The next day we will take a stroll on the stunning Rauðasandur beach. It is only a 30 minutes drive from Patreksfjörður. The road leading to Rauðasandur is a gravel road, winding and steep. But when driving down to the beach you will enjoy a helicopter view. The unique red coloured beach set amidst black cliffs and turquoise blue Atlantic ocean. It´s a wonderful place to fill your soul and camera with memories. On the way back to the airport we will drive through and stop by some tiny and charming fishing villages, embracing traditional ways of life.
