Rough tracks of Iceland are common in the Westfjords and what better way to enjoy the adventure but to sit in a jeep with a local guide telling you stories and facts about this southern part of the Westfjords.
This tour will take us to the majestic 441 m high Látrabjarg cliff. While exploring the magical bird life of the largest seabird colony in the Northern Atlantic (bird season middle of April until the beginning of August) we will learn about the utilization history of the cliff and the famous rescue achievements in 1947. Driving the rough track towards the deserted Keflavík you will enjoy the magnificent view over Rauðasandur, Breiðavík and Látrabjarg.
Steep rough roads and thrilling drive
The step rough high altitude road to Kollsvík, provide a thrilling drive and literally a “helicopter´s view” over Hænuvík and the opening of the two fjords of Patreksfjordur and Tálknafjörður.
The large sandy beach of Rauðasandur is one of the most spectacular sites of Iceland. The red sand glows in the summer light, gathering its color from crushed scallop shells. We will stop by the French Café at Rauðasandur before we head off back to Patreksfjordur for a dinner and photo sharing after a memorable day.
